Governor Ayotte Signs Solid Waste Regulation Law

On July 30, 2026, Governor Kelly Ayotte signed into law HB 707 at a ceremonial signing at Forest Lake State Park, attended by state leaders, North Country residents, and environmental advocates, including our client North Country Alliance for Balanced Change. HB 707 establishes a Solid Waste Site Evaluation Committee to regulate the placement of any new or expanded major landfills in New Hampshire. This victory for New Hampshire culminates years of work by BCM, championed by our own Attorney Amy Manzelli. This conservation triumph comes after nearly a decade of effort statewide, and we applaud all of those who joined together to make this landmark law a reality!
